The issues run deep, incentive structures and legacy constructs are not setup for success. Buy side research and expert-first research offer a better model going forward. Worth a detailed study!

Great article Rupak

Think we need to find that PMF to break the spell to capture the value considering "Sell-side investment research is something, which many more people value than those who will admit to it."

I remember PMs always nagged about it but could not live without it.

To your point, there needs to be value in the decades-old research data lakes. How to repackage that knowledge is the tricky question!

well, over here in the Hans Moleman corner of third-party contract research we're making a living being paid by the consumers of our research, although no doubt the money isn't as good.

Interesting. Do you charge per piece of research and per meeting or a subscription model with some tiering? 🙏🏼

we - that is, Omdia - overwhelmingly charge for subscriptions, whether to individual services, groups of services, or the whole damn thing, but we will certainly not turn you away if you want to buy single copy research.

That said the sales process is geared to subscriptions, may involve golf, I don't think you can buy copies through e-commerce.

My first "real job" before finishing uni was doing research publishing in the early morning hours - fixing up the logos, printing everything to PDF, and sending out the emails.

With respect to the content libraries - surely an easy "fine tune an equity research model" opportunity after a few years getting compliance approval :)
